Program Description:
In the real, adult world, finances can be tricky and decisions have consequences. Come join the Oklahoma State University’s 4-H extension at the Downtown Library where we will have educators walking you through a mock “Real World.” Using sample savings and transaction registers and deposit slips, participants will learn to record and manage accounts. After making deposits and required deductions, participants will continue through the “Real World” activity by making spending choices about housing, transportation, clothing, entertainment, and much more. Do you have what it takes to budget the car or house of dreams and still have money for groceries? Come find out!

Program Justification
Is a program the best way to meet the expressed need or present information?:
Yes
Does the program fit the goals of the MLS?:
Yes
How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?:
This program fulfills our core value of "Commitment to Learning as Enjoyment" by providing "fun fellowship" that is focused on gamifying the education of one of life's most perilous subjects; finances. By providing this valuable service and making a subject that is often perceived as dull entertaining, we will be providing needed life skills to our membership. This enrichment will increase our member retention and the diversification of programming options will increase our market penetration.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?:
Satisfy Curiosity: Your libraries are centers that offer access to civic, cultural and community enrichment opportunities.
Why will this program be successful?:
Danielle's previous programs at this branch have been so successful that we have had to offer additional presentations to accommodate the demand.
How will success be measured/determined?:
By measuring and analyzing the attendance. By asking questions like, "What percentage of attendees are newcomers?" "How many of our attendees regularly attend programming?" There will also be a short attendee survey that members will be asked to fill out for future programming purposes.
