Program Description: 
Middle school students! Learn the history and theory of rockets while you build and launch your own model rocket. Go beyond your school science class! Students may attend the academy with an adult mentor to make it a family experience. The model rocket kit and supplies are provided by the library free-of-charge. You will assemble your rocket at the morning session at Bethany Library and launch it in the afternoon at a location to be announced.

The Bethany Rocket Academy allows middle school students to extend their school classroom learning through a hands-on lesson and access library resources to extend their knowledge of science and technology.

Satisfy Curiosity: Visitors explore their interests using the variety of information at the library.
Why will this program be successful?: 
This program with its hands-on approach to build and launch a rocket and foundation of rocket sciences will prove popular as evidenced by earlier workshops.
How will success be measured/determined?: 
Goal is to fill the workshop to the allowable limit of 16 students. Expect students to show active engagement by completing a rocket and launching it. They will demonstrate a knowledge of basic principles of model rocketry.

Funding for this program is through a grant administered by the development office. The grant number is #933 (aerospace). An afternoon session from about 1:00pm to 2:30pm will be held with prior notification to the OKC parks department at Route 66 Park. The alternate date for this program would be November 5.
