“The sun never sets on the British Empire,” a phrase that evokes the vastness and strength of a nation that, at its peak, ruled 25% of the world’s land surface including large areas of North America, Australia, Africa and Asia. Librarian Gloria Melchor presents the best of British literature, history and culture on the pages of Rule, Britannia! Join her this time for the end of the British Raj and the beginning of Indian independence.

Listing Indian Fiction here would compliment the Non Fiction books you have selected which may also feature the struggle for home rule. The library carries a wealth of books in this genre including novels by such wonderful authors as Amitav Gosh, Jhumpa Lahiri, Thrity Umrigar, Paul Scott, E. M. Forster, Rohinton Mistry, Aravind Adiga, Salman Rushdie and many more. These are some of the best authors and have written my favorite books. Check them out!
