Ask Tim Online Form is Now Live!
You may now ask questions of (or make suggestions to) me and the Deputy Executive Directors using an online form in the Ask Tim Forum. To access this forum, from the Resources menu at the top, click Ask Tim or visit the page directly. You may submit a question anonymously but if you do so, you won't receive a notification when the question has been approved nor when the question has been answered, i.e. you will have to revisit the forum for updates.
You do not have to be logged in to Ask Tim a question. You have a choice in submitting anonymously, typing in your name (not logged in), or logging in and having the name field pre-populated.
Here's a quick rundown on the forum:
Forum Guidelines
- Be polite. (Give good internal customer service in how you write and how you respond.)
- Be professional. (See number 1.)
- Be proactive. (Do you have a proposed solution to your question?)
- Be forthcoming. (Don’t be afraid to ask a question. This forum is intended to promote open dialogue across the system.)
- If you ask a question anonymously, please write as if you had signed your name to the question. (See numbers 1 and 2.)
All questions will be approved before they are posted and it may take up to one business day before a question is posted. Reasons that might prevent a question from being approved would be that the question includes private, confidential, defamatory, or other sensitive information, including personally identifiable information that is meant cast an individual in a bad light. This forum is not the place to “grind an ax” but is instead intended to foster discussion to improve the Library.
I look forward to hearing from you!

I remembered seeing on this forum that there was some consideration of revisiting what information is needed to utilize a guest pass. I was wondering if any progress had been made on that front.
I recently had a discussion with a customer who had a card, but was now experiencing homelessness. He wanted to "get a new number" because he was concerned his card was compromised. While obtaining a new card or updating a card requires proof of address, he no longer had this available and requested to expire his card. While we explored the Day Pass option, he was embarrassed by being asked for his address and declined to fill out the form stating, "I'll just continue not using the library." I did manage to alert him to the Wi-Fi service, but was concerned by his reaction to being asked for his address information on the day pass form. Visitors to the area are also often confused with the address portion of the form asking if they list their home address or the address of where they are staying at the moment.
Would it be possible to remove the address portion of the day pass form to make the process more streamlined and promote accessibility by individuals in our community who do not have proof of address? Or would the creation of an "internet only" card be a more appropriate way to serve these individuals by not requiring them to fill out a new form on a daily basis when they only need access to the computers?
I understand concerns regarding checkout of materials, but it seems there should be a way to better serve individuals in these situations.
