Construction Updates - March 4th, 2015
Find below a recap of the work of the CON Office since our last report, 2015-03, dated 2/18/15.
- GENERAL
- CIP & GO BOND NEEDS / LONG RANGE CAPITAL PROJECTS REVIEW
- Tim, Kay, Anne, Karen, Lloyd & Todd met on 3/2 to review the proposed funding requests which have been given to OKC for projects at: AL, BI, DN, RE, SO, NW and WR.
- All will meet again on 3/9 to review funding needs for the other libraries.
- All of this is in preparation for the MLC - Long Range Planning Committee scheduled for April 6th at BI at 3:00.
- CIP & GO BOND NEEDS / LONG RANGE CAPITAL PROJECTS REVIEW
- BETHANY
- Tim & Todd met with City Manager John Shugart and councilmember, Kathy Larson on 2/24. While a timeline is still being worked out, the immediate goal is to secure the help of an architect to prepare information needed for a proposed bond election. Tim & Todd anticipate meeting with BE again in a couple of weeks.
- CAPITOL HILL – DESIGN WORK
- OKC & Guernsey Architects met on 3/3 to review comments regarding the Preliminary Report. An updated report is expected next week and will be presented to OKC Council for approval in mid-March. This will release the architect to begin he final design phase – CD’s or Construction Documents.
- The current schedule calls for MLS to move out shortly after summer reading.
- CAPITOL HILL – TEMP SPACE
- MLS continues to work to lease a gym located at 330 SW 24th St. for the CH Temporary Library. MLS is working with the architect who worked on the Almonte library. A preliminary plan has been issued to get a “probable estimated cost” for the needed improvements. These include carpeting, painting, HVAC repairs and new lights and added power. The estimate is due 3/6.
- MLS will meet to review the estimate with the church on 3/10.
- DEL CITY
- Devin & Tim met with the City Manager, Mark Edwards on 2/12 primarily as an introductory meeting but also to take stock of where we are in the process.
- Mark reaffirmed Del City's commitment to the project and expressed a strong interest in getting started soon.
- Tim will be meeting again with Mark the 1st part of March to review specific steps needed to move this project forward.
- EDMOND
- On 2/23, the Edmond City Council appointed 21 members to the Capital Improvement Advisory Task Force. They are charged with identifying future long term capital improvement projects for the City of Edmond that could be funded by sales tax revenue. These projects include items such as new buildings (including a library), major road projects, etc. A final report is due in November.
- On 2/23, Edmond also approved the agreement St Mary’s Church.
- On 3/3, Edmond released the architect to start the design process for adding about 15 parking spaces on site and about 12 parking spaces on the street. An updated schedule for the work has also been requested.
