Linda Kukuk - Biography

I am a life-time resident of the Oklahoma City area, and a self-taught artist.  Since the early 1960’s I have participated in numerous art shows, specializing in scratchboard art. My husband and I have traveled extensively throughout Africa, Europe, Russia, and the South Pacific, which has given me a myriad of interesting subjects to paint and draw.

My retirement as Chief of the Commander’s Protocol Office at Tinker AFB in March 2002, has given me more time to pursue my artistic endeavors.   Since then, I have been painting mainly in watercolor and have discovered this (especially combined with scratchwork)  is definitely my favorite medium. My scratchwork has changed dramatically these days as I now use clayboard, which allows me to add watercolor to this traditionally “black and white” medium.   I enjoy painting a very wide variety of subjects and consider anything to be fair game for my paper and clayboard.

Being a native Oklahoman of Choctaw ancestry, and having grown up in rural Oklahoma, right next door to rodeo performers, I especially enjoy painting rodeo, cowboy life, and  Native American themes.

I am represented by two galleries:  The Howell Gallery and Red Earth Gallery in Oklahoma City.

In addition to art, I enjoy photography, travel, gardening, cooking, and hold an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator’s license.
