Books Come Alive Through Tours

Through Outreach Service's system-wide cultural tours, information found in books, CD's, and DVD's are presented live in the library. This year we celebrated Hispanic Heritage in September of 2013. Ballet Flamenco Espanol Folklorico Dance Company presented the Flamenco dance as it began in Spain and traveled to South America and Mexico. In October we presented Cimarron Opera's A Grimm Affair from the familiar Grimm's fairytales. Melody of China presented Chinese culture through ancient instruments, stories, and songs. These people grew up in China during the time of Chairman Mao. We read about this time in our history but to have the opportunity to speak to people who lived through it was special for our customers. Approximately 2700 customers enjoyed these cultural tours of the world.
