Construction Updates - September 18, 2013

  • Capitol Hill -  The City of Oklahoma City kick-off meeting was held on Thursday, September 5th and the official Notice to Proceed was issued.  The first programming meeting with the City of Oklahoma City, MLS, Guernsey and MSR was held on September 10th. They reviewed the flow of information, the MLS service plan, project expectations, the budget and schedule.

    The design team also took a tour of Capitol Hill as well as Southern Oaks and Almonte. The architect has been reviewing space needs.  On September 17th, a space needs recap was issued to the MLS –Capitol Hill design team for their review. This will be used to develop various plans which will be presented at their next meeting October 1st.

  • Del City - A meeting was held on September 5th with Mark Edwards, Del City - City Manager, Donna and Todd to review the topics and issues to be addressed for the project in a letter of understanding.  Del City is moving forward with site selections, which is expected to be completed by the end of November.  Construction is also working on scheduling several MLS library tours.

  • Downtown - Work is continuing on a “final” leak report which is expected at end of September.  The ultimate goal of this report is to allow Oklahoma City to develop funding options and a plan to correct the leaks.

    There is no update for the Park Avenue / 180 Project.

  • Edmond Parking - A meeting was held September 4th with the City of Edmond to strategize and discuss options for parking. Edmond and St Mary’s have been discussing shared land options for almost a year. As this has not worked out, Todd stated the meeting was really a “reboot to review various options”.  Due to the nature of the issue, there may not be a “single total solution” but all are committed to finding ways to improve the situation.  Several more meetings have been scheduled and the next meeting is set for September 20th.

  • Edmond 2 - Todd spoke briefly of the parking meeting. He stated while a time line has not been defined, the City of Edmond sees a need for a second library and remains committed.

  • Jones - The Metropolitan Library System, City of Jones and Studio Architect held a meeting September 4th to “restart” the design process. Todd stated MLS, Jones and Studio need to consolidate the image needs and expectations so the process can move forward.

  • Midwest City - The Metropolitan Library System continues to work with Studio Architects to develop a new monumental sign.

  • Northwest - The Construction Department is working on the audio video system work – which is to be awarded September  19th.  Installation is expected to take place in early November.

  • Ralph Ellison - The Ralph Ellison sewer line is complete. The Construction Dept. continues to work on a solution to the “overflow roof drain” issue.
