Construction Updates - June 26, 2013
- CAPITOL HILL – Both the Capitol Hill Library Project Agreement and Guernsey’s contract are scheduled to go to the Oklahoma City Council for approval on Tuesday, July 2nd. The design process should start 2 to 3 weeks later.
- DOWNTOWN – Studio’s proposal to the City of Oklahoma City, to review the costs to repair the leaks is set to be approved next week.
- EDMOND – Funding for additional land for parking does not exist. Other options are being explored. The CON office is going to investigate possible traffic control systems for the existing parking lot.
- JONES – Jones and MLS met with Studio Architects on Tuesday, June 25th to review updated estimates. While MLS’ desires are meeting the reality of the available funding, a good meeting which established priorities was held. This information will be presented Tuesday, July 2nd to the Jones City Council. With their final approval, MLS expect the design work to restart in earnest. Jones construction is expected to start later this year.
- NORTHWEST
- Progress has been made on two major issues:
- Derrick Glazing – All parties met on the roof on Thursday, June 13th. Replacement work is currently being planned.
- Landscaping - On Thursday, June 13th the Construction Department also met to review the landscaping. Replacement of dead trees and plants will begin next week and the maintenance will improve.
- Other work –
- On Tuesday, June 18th staff met with AVL to begin the Audio Visual design process. A preliminary plan is expected next week. The Construction Department hopes to bid in July & award in August.
- Studio has presented some options for the Monumental sign for Northwest and Midwest City Library.
- RALPH ELLISON – FSB Architects were hired by the City of Oklahoma City to address this problem. A preliminary plan has been submitted for Constructions review. It looks likely that the library will need to be closed while some or all of the work is complete. The work is expected to be finished mid August.
- RALPH ELLISON – Sewer issues continue at Ralph Ellison Library. The City of Oklahoma City has decided to hire FSB to prepare plans for replacement of the sewer line.
