Librarians Keep Reference Fresh

Fourteen librarians met to discuss the Changing Face of Reference. The newest library in the system (NW) and newly renovated SO are the first to explore a combined service desk with check-out and information co-located. Librarians considered what a reference librarian can do for the customer that Google can’t, potential changes in the education of future reference librarians, i.e. twitter, text, Facebook, phone, live chat, etc., and the continued need for a reference desk and ready reference books.
