What ideas do you have for next year?
People want bags back instead of sunglasses. Well received and fun. People enjoyed it. NW-Neighborhood Arts did not hold up as well as in previous years. Some performances were good for the young audiences and some were for older audiences. The dance performances were too talkative, Mister Puppet, Sugar Free Allstars, and Painted Sky Opera.
Not many daycares showed up for Neighborhood Arts. Mad Science had a good crowd for first program, but not for the subsequent one. ED made a flyer with what each performer that week would be.
Ask Marketing to create a template that libraries can modify to list their location’s specific program schedule for Neighborhood Arts.
Like the fewer titles with more copies, but there was always one title that wasn’t very popular that wasn’t being picked. Would like to see more leveled readers with that level printed on the book. Bunnicula had too many copies. Most of the adults had already read all of the adult titles.
Liked the choice for adults to select two juvenile books instead of one adult book. Confusion on prize pickup because everyone did it in August last year, but it was unclear when the prize pickup would take place this year. Train teens on the talking points about when prizes can be picked up. Marketing could be more clear.
Programs planned by OES. One of the programs was really short. It lasted only about 15 minutes (Extreme Animals). There was a scheduling issue with the OKC Zoo, but it was resolved. The preschool program from the Zoo was super short (~20 minutes). It could have been more involved or longer. Science Museum Oklahoma programs seemed like something they could have done themselves.
Covid hurt us all. This year was starting over brand new. Most of the outreach programs were new staff from the OKC Zoo, SMO, MOO. It felt like a training year. Good feedback on the OKC Zoo program at SO. Art Museum programs were great.
SMO boat program description talked a lot about knots and what was done did not talk about knots at all.
BI had a great turn out for OKC Improv and Mister Puppet. Requests to bring them back in the fall. OKC Improv is good for elementary age kids, but not for younger children. Could OKC improv incorporate more improv games that they kids can participate in? Communicating to families what to expect from the programs, add to intro the target age group from the program and younger ones are welcome to join. If they get restless, feel free to step outside and return as you need to.
Will we stick with the same goal levels in the future? Yes, having one goal was easier to explain. We are looking at using the ticketing function in Beanstack to allow people to earn extra entries into the drawing prize and encourage them to continute reading after they reach 600 points.
Ice cream contest at Sacramento Library. If teens reached goal, Marc would be made into an ice cream sundae.
SR Kick off party with a mermaid and sensory bins was really successful.
