Construction Updates - November 12, 2014
- GENERAL
- We continue to work with OKC on a Capital Improvements list for MLS.
- BETHANY
- On 10/27, Donna and I met with John Shugart (City Manager) and Kathy Larson (Ward 3). They are very interested in making significant improvements to the Bethany library. Like most projects, they need funding. Both John & Kathy expressed their desire to work toward securing the funding. More later.
- CAPITOL HILL
- On 10/23, an updated “3-D” model of the CH library was provided by MS+R – see attachment A
- MLS has been reviewing the Schematic Design package which was issued on 10/17 (Attachment B is a copy of the floor plan as submitted.) MLS returned comments on 10/28.
- Our next design meeting is scheduled for 11/21. This meeting with provide an opportunity to clarify OKC's / MLS's SD Report comments; to discuss the requirements of the "work room" area; to begin our discussions regarding the selection of materials and to begin the FF&E design process.
- The structural & MEP consultants will also be available to address related issues.
- The next design package, the Design Development ( DD’s) is due 12/28
- OKC & MLS continue to work on the securing the land needed for the expansion.
- A list of existing items to be saved, surplused or scrapped has been created.
- A decision has been made to secure a temporary space, preferably on 25th St. The size and service provided are to be determined by what is reasonable & available. Jana & I have a tour scheduled for 11/13.
- EDMOND
- Per email from Steve Commons on 11/11, ‘Edmond’s attorney is working on an agreement with the Church that provides for the specific location of the transformer as a commitment to the project. The City will bear the expense of this transformer relocation which will position it for future development at the Church. We plan get a draft of a new agreement out by early next week.’
- Edmond hired a firm to conduct a Customer Service Survey. MLS was able to get several question included that should identify Edmond’s perception of the need for a second library. Again from Steve on 11/11, ‘The survey is out to our citizens. We will get results back in January and the Council will review them at a workshop tentatively set for January 26.
- JONES
- On 11/5 Studio, Jones and MLS met to select the finish materials – brick, carpet, ceramic tile, paint colors, counter tops etc. Studio is preparing a color board and rendering which will have samples of the approved materials.
- On 11/10, MLS returned comments on the 60% construction drawings (CD’s). Jones, MLS & Studio will meet later today (11/12) to review these comments
- MLS is currently reviewing the 60% CD project specifications and the 60% FF&E plans & specs.
- The next submittal (95% CDs) is due on December 8th.
- NORTHWEST
- The broken derrick glass was replaced on 11/3 and the dry sprinkler warranty work was completed on 11/4/14.
- Warranty Work on 7 remaining items continues.
- OKC has found funding for derrick roof top glazing repairs and is in the process of issuing a contract for this work.
- OKC continues to look for funding for geo-thermal and the drainage channel work.
