Construction Updates - January 21st, 2015
- GENERAL – OKC CIP & BOND NEEDS
- On 1/10, MLS submitted Draft 4 of the MLS-OKC 2015 Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and GO Bond Requests. A copy was also provided to the Tim and the DEDs. The rest of the AdTeam was copied on 1/20.
- As mentioned before, this request includes funding for projects at: AL, DN, SO, NW and WR. It also touches on the need for library services in the far northwest, far southwest and far northeast.
- One of the projects that Donna was working on and now falls to Tim & all of us is determining how we prioritize these “projects.”
- OKC started their internal review process on 1/4. I have asked for a schedule of their reviews.
- A Draft of the OKCPlan (OKC’s planning tool for the next 25 to 50 years) has been issued. The public has been invited to provide comments on line over the next 60 days. This report also addresses the need for future library services,

- BETHANY
- Per conservation with Bethany’s City Manager John Shugart last week, Bethany continues to make progress on their plans to renovate & expand their library. MLS will be meeting with Bethany soon to review the project and the next steps.
- CAPITOL HILL – DESIGN WORK
- On 12/29, a draft copy of the “Design Development Report” (DD), (Also called the “Preliminary Report”) was issued.
- MLS- CON issued some draft comments to the MLS Design Team and OKC on 1/16.
- The MLS CH design team will meet later today to review our internal questions.
- MLS will also meet later today with OKC to review our comments.
- CAPITOL HILL – TEMP SPACE
- On 1/12, MLS-CH Design Team looked at three possible building in which to locate the CH Library. While the 3rd space (the old bank) will not work, the owners indicated they may have another nearby space. We are working to analyze which option will work.
- On 1/12, Jana & I toured the Capitol Hills Elementary School and determined that it would not work as a temporary site.
- The schedule calls for a process to secure a space be presented to MLC in February.
- EDMOND
- Edmond issued their 2014 Citizens Satisfaction Survey Results last week. The results are VERY GOOD
- Of the people completing the survey or other household members, in the last 12 months, 61% used the library or its services.
- 90% rated the quality of the library services as excellent or good.
- 59% felt it was important that the City focus on developing or improving the library facilities

- A public workshop meeting with the Edmond City Council has been scheduled for 1/26 to review the results.

- JONES
- MLS continues to review the 95% construction drawings.
- MLS comments are to be presented to Jones on 2/4 and MLS/ Jones comments are due to the architect on 2/9.
