Construction Updates - February 6, 2013

  • SOUTHERN OAKS – A final inspection was conducted Monday, February 4th by The City of OKC, the contractor (Anderson & House), architect (ADG) and the Metropolitan Library System.  A few minor issues remained, but the project is expected to be accepted by The City of OKC later this month.  This will become the official start of the warranties for Southern Oaks.  Construction is working on the final documentation and the The City of OKC / MLS lease for Southern Oaks.
  • NORTHWEST – Finalization of the project remains difficult with many major open issues.  MLS has asked The City of OKC that a meeting be held to review the status of these issues.  Studio Architects has been released to design a monumental sign for both Northwest and Midwest City.
  • JONES – The design process is about 25% complete for Jones. A copy of the Schematic Design Submittal is expected the week of February 14th.  The Construction Department will forward a copy to all Ad Team members.  Jones expect to “break-ground” in October.
  • CAPITAL HILL LIBRARY – As previously mentioned, The City of OKC received eleven responses to their Request for Qualifications.  Four architects have been selected for interviews, scheduled for February 18th.  The City of OKC goal is to have the architect under contract by mid April.  The project agreement for Capital Hill needs to be in place before mid April.
  • DEL CITY - On February 4th, the City Council released the Revenue Bond Committee to secure the funding for the Del City Capital Projects that were approved last fall.  The City of Del City continues to analyze several building sites.  The Metropolitan Library System is working on the project agreement at this time.
  • DOWNTOWN – The City of OKC is going to engage an architect to review the condition of the roof, skylight system and wall panel system and provide proposals and estimated costs for repairs or replacement. With that information, The City of OKC can begin looking at funding options.  While it will take time to complete the final work, MLS is grateful for this proposed action.
  • ALMONTE – A few items remain in need of work, however the doors were opened to the public on Monday, February 4th.
