Construction Updates - February 5, 2014

  • CAPITOL HILL
    • MLS remains hopeful that additional funding for the project will be provided.  The City of OKC is in 1 phase of a 5 step process to secure these funds.   At this point, Todd believe the design work could begin in late March.

  • DEL CITY
    • Demolition of the bowling alley remains on schedule, weather permitting.
    • The Planning and Materials Selection offices have completed their review of the current and future collection requirements.  The 2nd MLS Design Team meeting is scheduled for Friday 2/7 to update the Program needs.  This information will be incorporated into the Del City / MLS project agreement.

  • EDMOND PARKING
    • The 95% concept plans, which show the addition of 16 spaces on site and 11 off site spaces, were issued on 1/30. 
    • Our next meeting is schedule for 2/14 to review the 99% plans and the 95% estimate. 
    • The final plans and the probable cost estimate are due February 21st.
    • If all is approved, the design work could start short in late March.
    • Construction is currently scheduled to start after summer reading.

  • EDMOND 2
    • The joint YMCA / Edmond Schools / City of Edmond health facilities’ dedication last week and the Edmond Safety Center is well underway
    • With these projects behind them, Edmond has begun the process of reviewing their long term capital needs.  A new library is on that list.
    • A citizen survey is planned for this fall.

  • JONES
    • An updated elevation of the Jones Library was approved by Jones and MLS on 1/17.  The 95% Design Development plans are expect early March.

  • NORTHWEST
    • The additional lights for the Children’s Program Room have shipped and installation will take place the week of February 17th.
    • We are awaiting OKC’s comments on the draft Bollard Replacement Plan.  Todd hope that this work can be released for final pricing within the next 3 weeks.
    • While at ALA Mid-Winter last week, Todd found a product that he believe can used to help mitigate some of the sound issues in the study rooms.  Todd have been in contact with the manufacture.  More info to follow.
    • MLS continues to work with The City of OKC on outstanding Warranty issues.
