Construction Updates - December 10, 2014

  • GENERAL
    • We continue to work with OKC on a Capital Improvements list and a future OKC GO Bond list for library projects.
  • CAPITOL HILL
    • A design meeting was held on 11/21.  This meeting provided an opportunity to clarify OKC's / MLS's SD Report comments; to discuss the requirements of the "work room" area; to begin our discussions regarding the selection of materials.
    • On 12/3 we met with the mechanical, electrical & plumbing (MEP) consultants to discussion building systems.
    • On 12/5 a meeting was held to review structural issues.
    • Updated floor plans were issued on 12/1, 12/3 & 12/8 – for the latest, see Attach A.  The work room still needs work
    • The next design package, the Design Development (DD’s) is due 12/28 but may be issued sooner
    • OKC & MLS continue to work on the securing the land needed for the expansion.
  • CAPITOL HILL – TEMP SPACE
    • A decision has been made to secure a temporary space, preferably on 25th St.  The size and service provided are to be determined by what is reasonable & available with the focus to locate on 25th Street.
    • Below is a brief schedule (This is tied to the current CH Design & Construction scheduled dated 10/15/14.)

      • Negotiate / Design       2/1/15 - 2/28/15
      • Bid & Lease                 3/1/15 – 4/30/15
      • Renovate                     5/1/15 – 7/31/15
      • Move-In                       8/1/15 – 8/21/15
    • Jana & I toured 25th St on 12/4 and looked at 11 vacate building.  See Attachment B.
    • Five (5) of the spaces look promising.  CON is in the process of scheduling tours.
  • EDMOND
    • On 11/24, Edmond’ issued an updated agreement with the Church that provides for the specific location of the transformer as a commitment to the project.  This is expected to be approved and the design work to begin in January.    
    • At the Nov MLC meeting, Edmond indicated their goal was to complete the paving before summer reading, 2015.
    • Edmond has issued their customer survey.  Edmond has indicated they will share a copy of the results with MLS before presented to the city council at a workshop tentatively set for January 26.
  • JONES
    • On 11/5 Studio, Jones and MLS met to select the finish materials. 
    • Jones, Studio & MLS met on 11/12 to review comments issued about the 60% construction drawings (CD’s).
    • MLS is still reviewing the 60% CD project specifications and the 60% FF&E plans & specs. 
    • On 11/20. Studio issued a color board with the selected material and a rendering- See Attachment C.
    • The next submittal (95% CDs) is due early next week.
  • NORTHWEST
    • Warranty Work on 7 remaining items continues.  
    • OKC has found funding for derrick roof top glazing repairs and is in the process of issuing a contract for this work.
    • OKC continues to look for funding for geo-thermal and the drainage channel work.
