Construction Updates - April 2, 2014
- ALMONTE
- MLS is working with OKC to create a “best guess” about the anticipated needs of the future for a permanent Almonte Library.
- CAPITOL HILL
- MLS and OKC met on 4/1 to review Guernsey’s Draft Programming Report. This review also included a discussion about the final construction budget. A meeting is to be scheduled to review these comments with the architect.
- In an attempt to share with the CH library architects some of the issues associated with library design, OKC, MLS & Guernsey will be touring the NW and Edmond libraries on Friday, 4/4. We will be looking at what we “love” and what “don’t love” about these spaces.
- OKC & MLS are also working on an updated funding schedule.
- On 4/23, Donna will formally present our request for additional funding for CH.
- The current schedule calls for MLS to move out in April 2015. Planning for the move out will start this summer.
- EDMOND PARKING
- Edmond and MLS will be meeting on Monday 4/7 to review the Edmond Parking Agreement. With some luck, we will present this to the Commission in April.
- JONES
- The Design Development plans were issued March 26th. MLS & Jones are meeting on 4/3 to review these plans. Comments are to be returned to Studio Architects the week of 4/13.
- Denelle Wrightson, with PSA Architects, Dallas, and working with Studio Architects, will be here for the 1st FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) meeting on 4/23.
- The new road (still needs a name) was completed the week of 3/28.

I really appreciate you keeping everyone informed of any new developments. Thank you!
The new road should be named Donna Morris Lane. Just my two cents...
Nice thought Chris -
The truth is there are many that could or should be recognized, if that is even the plan. If you are interested, give me a call and I will share.
I see the construction of a new library as an act of “paying it forward”. I would suggest paying tribute to the act of leaning - say ‘Hope Street’ or ‘Reading Lane’ or ‘ABC’s Road’
Thanks again Chris
