Describe Recipient:

I just wanted to give Kudos to our amazing YA librarian. Last Tuesday a customer came to Meaghan about her daughter who was having some type of issues at school with anxiety and/or bullies (I didn't want to listen too closely to private information). The mother then had her daughter drive up to the library to speak with Meaghan. In the meantime Meaghan had raided her desk and the shelves to make a care package for this teen. When the teen came Meaghan was prepared with books, stickers, candy, a blank journal, a cute pen, inspirational memes printed out and most importantly the number for a hotline designed for teens experiencing just this type of situation. Finally, Meaghan sat and talked to the teen girl for several minutes, sharing her own experiences and reassuring the girl that it was all normal (while not being O.K.) and that she isn't alone. I found it so touching, but also an example of what an excellent YA librarian Meaghan is. This was all completely above and beyond the expectations for a librarian, but she didn't think twice about helping a teen in need

Meg's reaction to this teen

Meg's reaction to this teen doesn't surprise me at all. She truly cares about teenagers (and all her customers) and has a passion for her job and making connections with her teens and her community that make her an excellent connector.
