Raccoon

The raccoon was designated the State Furbearing Animal of Oklahoma in 1989. Its name is derived from the Algonquin word “aroughcoune,” which means “he who scratches with his
hands.” (The Raccoon can be viewed from inside the Children’s Patio area.)
