Biographical Information:

Walter Firle was born in Breslau, Germany on August 22,1859, and died in Munich, Germany on November 20, 1929. Originally destined for a business career, he later changed his attentions to painting and attended the Academy in Munich. In his canvasses, most of which are characterized by a somewhat gloomy atmosphere, he knew how to combine open air painting with a keen study of the human physiognomy. His more important works have become popular through magazine illustrations.
