Biographical Information: 

Brunel Faris (1937-2005) was a native of Oklahoma City who received his MFA in Painting from the University of Oklahoma. As an artist, teacher, and arts administrator, Brunel was prominent in the Oklahoma City arts community for over 40 years. During 30 years of that time he was Chairman of the Art Department at Oklahoma City University. Brunel is well known for his sensitive drawings and his delicate, insightful, and witty collages. During his career he developed a technique in which the viewer could arrange and re-arrange the elements in abstract paintings on a magnetic board.

Brunel’s work is represented in the Oklahoma State Art Collection, the Fred Jones Museum of Art, The Philbrook Museum, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art and the Tulsa Performing Art Center.
