Lloyd – Discussed the Budget Schedule.
Library Operations – Denyvetta reported that the Belle Isle Library had their general staff meeting. Denyvetta proposed a question to the Belle Isle library staff, “What qualities and characteristics they seek in a manager? She shared a few of their ideas with the Ad Team.
Denyvetta stated the Belle Isle Library staff true colors were gold and blue.
Denyvetta stated everything else is running smoothly at this time.
Library Operations & Planning – Kay and John Wood – Manager of Information Technology are currently visiting each library to meet with managers regarding their IT Budget Requests and to discuss the online Summer Reading options. Kay wants to make sure that the Metropolitan Library System will be able to serve all communities online and offline during the Summer Reading season.
Library Operations (Headquarters) – Candace announced the Downtown Library will have a new café operator. The company (4-D.A.T) have signed a contract and expect to be open no later than March 1st. Candace stated they are going to change the name of the café name to Hemming Way and the menu items will change slightly.
Candace is finishing the chemical inventory for MSDS.

Administration / Commission – Donna reported new leadership within the MLS Commission. MLS Commissioner Nancy Anthony is the new Commission Chair and MLS Commissioner Judy Smith is the new Vice Chair. The former MLS Commission Chair Fran Cory has decided to step down from the chair position.
Donna stated that the ‘Heart Walk’ free volunteer t-shirts will be available for employees only starting this year. Shirts will discontinue completely for all who are not MLS employees due to cost. Donna continues encouragement to all family and friends of MLS employees to join in the Heart Walk this year and years to come.
Finance & Support – Lloyd stated the Downtown Library carpeting begins Monday, March 17th on the fourth floor. On Monday, March 24th Bryan’s Flooring will begin working on the 3rd floor carpeting. The Downtown Library will remain open during these two weeks. Lloyd reported the week of March 31st the first and second floors will receive carpeting which may take up to four weeks to complete. The Downtown Library will close during this time. No one will need to empty out their desks and floor schedules will be issued soon. There are still details that are not finalized at this time. There will be more information and instructions to come.
Information Technology – Anne reported the IT Department is working on the new ILS and preparing demo meetings for calendar and meeting room software.
Development – Diane reported the Development Department is working on the book sale with the Friends of the Library. She stated that all volunteers will receive a champions’ shirt to wear and there will be food available for volunteers as well.
Literary Voices sign up numbers are similar to last year. Diane stated there will not be a Literary Voices ‘Day after Event’ this year.
Human Resources – Lori reported that the Human Resources Department is running as usual and tackling current challenges within the HUM world in general.
MAC – Kim reported the Full-Time Marketing Coordinator position was posted yesterday (Jan. 21st.) In the meantime, the Marketing Department will receive a temp to help out within the department. The temp will not do all the work as a Marketing Coordinator, but he or she will submit to the calendar and other basic job duties.
Kim has been working with Jana Hausburg – Capitol Hill Library Manager, on a class called BLT: Writing with the Right Ingredients. The BLT class is primarily about combining lectures on bullying and other topics and tying them into the Strategic Plan. The first class had a maximum seating of 12 people and filled up within two days. The next classes are scheduled for 1:30 – 4:30pm Thursday, Jan. 30th and Tuesday, March 4th at the library Service Center.
Kim is also working on changing some wording on project requests.
Materials & Outreach – Karen is working on budget worksheets to send out to library managers by the end of this week.
Karen spoke with Overdrive and let them know MLS want them to produce the interface for our children’s eMedia site. There is more information to come.
Outreach – Dana announced she have submitted her formal letter of retirement. Dana’s retirement date is August 1st 2014. She stated that she started work as an Edmond Library Aide in 1976. She is currently cleaning out files and leaving notes for the next Director of Outreach Services.
