If you missed the news [1], we now have a wonderful new service called Niche Academy available for you to help you learn more about our eResources. Instead of posting a new eResource Mini Series video this month, I’d like the take the time to highlight one of the Niche Academy courses on Ancestry Library Edition.

Ancestry is one of our most popular resources, but it can be intimidating to use. Normally, Ancestry is only available to our customers while they’re onsite and can’t be accessed at home. Due to the pandemic, however, they’ve made it available remotely through March 2021. We’ve seen a significant increase in use of this database since they’ve made it available to customers from home, so what better time to get to know it yourself? The more you know about and have experience with Ancestry, the more confidently you can recommend it to customers and assist them with questions. 

Search for Ancestry in Edubrite or visit this link here [2] to enroll in the course. It should take about 20-40 minutes to go through the videos, get hands-on practice, and answer a few questions. 

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

• Search records
• Search family trees
• Email records
• Use the card catalog
