Customers will soon have access to Washington Post’s website (with no paywall) for use at the library and remotely. The web page metrolibrary.org/washingtonpost [1] has directions and links for offsite and in-library use.

While offsite, customers will click a link where they’ll be asked to create a Washington Post account or sign in with an existing account using their email address. They will then be able to redeem a 7-day pass that will get them full access to WashingtonPost.com. Access can be renewed after 7 days by navigating to the link on our website again and redeeming another pass.

While using a library computer or while using a personal device that’s connected to our library wi-fi, customers can navigate to washingtonpost.com/regional [2] and sign up for or sign into a Washington Post account to get unlimited access.

The Washington Post, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal are the most requested national newspapers by customers. Collection Development selects newspaper products intended for daily reading as well as products intended for research purposes. Metrolibrary.org/washingtonpost [3] and metrolibrary.org/newyorktimes [4] are available for everyday purposes to catch up on recent events and browse headlines. Coverage in U.S. Major Dailies [5] and Historical Newspapers [6] provide historical archives. These databases provide research support and are good for searching for specific archived articles or historical events.

We are limited in the products we can provide intended for daily reading because most newspapers do not provide this option. America’s News [7] helps us fill this gap by providinges over 3,000 news sources, including the New York Post, Washington Examiner, Washington Times, and National Review. Full text and color image editions of Tulsa World and the Oklahoman (metrolibrary.org/oklahoman [8]) are also available in America’s News. To learn more about this resource, check out this li [9]ve training opportunity [9] coming soon in December!
