Summer Reading
  • will look similar to last year
  • subcommittees are starting to meet this month
  • will be prepared to adapt & pivot as needed
Winter Reading: Book Bingo
  • much the same as last year
  • anyone can participate, library card-holding adults eligible for prizes
  • two stages
    • ​Bingo to get goal prize
    • Drawing prizes and a "blackout" grand prize
  • training will be coming in December
Virtual Programming During Unexpected Closure
  • general guidelines are coming from EPS to help determine how to proceed with cancellations, postponements, or continuations
  • backlog of pre-recorded videos to be available for unforseen events

    • D&D virtual – expanded to 2X per week, one session led by a teen

    • Among Us Program – teaming up with Shelbie, free downloadable app with a group of people – one person is an imposter, and everyone has a secret role with tasks, sign in to Zoom to play via the app

    • Halloween dance party – postponed to Saturday, November 7th

    • Thinking about the future and how we can use teen volunteers

    • January – partner to do Murder Mystery talking to suspects and solving the mystery, use staff in breakout rooms as suspects?

    • Last week was free comic book week – had to cancel due to ice storm

    • Changed to be a take and make – miniature D&D painting

    • Story Walk on trails, posted on the windows around the library to read as they walk, ends at front of the library 

    • Maker Space not currently open 

    • Program called Studio Saturdays – online class on Tinkerpad.  Submit design and it will be 3D printed.  Limited to 6 participants

    • Rocket Readers for kids – reaching San Jose Public LIbrary

    • Need extra figures to paint? Has heroclix that have been primed for mini-figure painting practice

    • Team planning Black History month 

    • Alzheimer’s programs – caring and COVID 

    • OKCMOA, helping with free family days in January and June, art take home kits to a handful of libraries serving populations with lower internet connectivity (50 to DC RE, SO, CH, AL)

    • Take home kits one a month for each age group (25) 

    • Online coding club – 15 participants 

    • Coding contest with prizes – info went out on Monday w/ PDFs of rules and prizes

    • Take home kits – two a month for every age group 

    • Oct – sew your own sock monster 

    • Escape room 

    • Botanical soap making, feather quill pen, miniature journaling 

    • Beginning in January – increase the number of kits by 15
