Training Times April 2018

Welcome to the April edition of Training Times! We have great opportunities for development planned for you. We hope you are as excited about taking advantage of these training opportunities as we are to plan them!

Metro has free access to all the Lynda.com classes through our website. Click on Research > then the letter “L” to locate the database. You will need your library card number and the Pin is your last name! If you take any ‘work’ related Lynda.com course, you can scan/email your certificates of completion to [email protected] or interoffice them to L & D to receive credit in EduBrite on your professional transcript. There are over 6000 courses in this database…something for everyone and all you need is a library card!

The Virtual PLA links have been added to EduBrite for you to subscribe and watch whichever segment that is of interest to you. Once completed, be sure to email [email protected] for credit in EduBrite on your professional transcript.

Paycom Supervisor Instructor ILT (instructor-led training) is underway! There are seats still open for you to subscribe in EduBrite. Any supervisor wanting to brush up on their skills or that has questions about Paycom are invited to attend.

A new 60-minute webcast is now available from the Journal of Libraries in EduBrite - SELF-e + Short Form Content: Self-publishing for Local Writers -- How libraries, their customers and local writers all benefit from a cycle of creating, sharing and discovering local writers.

Second quarter safety training is now available in EduBrite - Basic First Aid, due by June 30th, 2018.  This course is NOT a job expectation for any position within the Metropolitan Library System. It is being provided to staff as general knowledge and education as part of a safety requirement by the Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health (PEOSH).

With the OverDrive Book Mobile coming to CH on April 13th,  several pre-recorded webinars have been put in EduBrite to assist you with getting up to speed with the application:

  • OverDrive: The Libby App
  • Part II: OverDrive Getting Started with OverDrive
  • Part II: OverDrive Getting Started with OverDrive
  • OverDrive: The OverDrive App
  • OverDrive: Read and Listen
  • OverDrive: Help and Resources

The Webinars run from 6 minutes to 33 minutes, so please see your supervisor’s approval.
