We all know good nutrition and physical exercise are very important to our health, but more recently we have been reading about the value of exercising our minds to help prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Librarian Phyllis thinks databases are great for that and she has a list just for you.

There are people in this world who can re-read their favorite books a number of times without getting tired of them. For me, the book covers are always greener on the other side of the book shelves. Lately, however, I have been thinking back over the years about books that were impressive enough that I still remember them quite well.

 

An Old-Fashioned Christmas - Senior Moments

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to recapture some of the magic of Christmas that we experienced as children? Back then, I kept a very close eye on the December calendar page, frequently counting the number of days until Christmas. It certainly wasn’t because I expected loads of gifts, but the whole experience seemed magical to me. Probably each one of you has a memorable story or two about Christmas when you were a child. To help you feel more like a kid at Christmas, why not warm up a bowl of soup and enjoy some more real Christmas stories and some Christmas fiction. The Sad State of Obituaries - Senior Moments

Maybe you have noticed that as newspaper charges have risen, obituaries have gotten briefer, and fewer of them are being published. I find it very sad to think that a person may simply disappear so completely that his future family members never discover where, when or how he lived his life. As for yourself, don’t be so humble that you think nobody will care about your life. Your story will benefit someone. Try to leave your footprints behind in a number of ways. I've got some pointers for you that might just help.
