Sisters—some might say that you either love them or hate them, but I suspect that we love our sisters and, perhaps, hate some of the things they do. Some sisters are bossy, some are tattletales, and some are just plain ornery, but when they are all grown up, they can become wonderful friends. It is no surprise that sisters have also become valuable and interesting characters in cozy mysteries. Librarian Phyllis has the lead on some great "sistery mysteries"!
When someone mentions a good mystery do you imagine a locked room full of odd characters trying to discover who put poison in the vicar’s tea? Or maybe a quaint English village with a spinster knitting and watching from a window? If so, then it’s time to try some new scenery. I love a mystery that takes me to a place so evocative and dramatic that I can feel the cold of a Shetland winter, hear leaves crunching underfoot on a Thanksgiving morning, or see the sun reflecting off a river in Brittany. In this kind of mystery the setting can be as much a part of the story as the characters. Expand your mystery horizons and check out some of these titles:
