REPORTS

DEVELOPMENT – In Ernestine’s absence, Lloyd reported Literary Voices ticket sales are going well. Invitations to the event have been mailed out.

The Endowment Trust will be meeting tomorrow.

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE – Patrick reported he was out last week and is busy catching up this week.

HUMAN RESOURCES – Ric reported on the current vacancies, which was emailed to Ad Team this morning.

Ric handed out budget entries for account 101 and 102. He asked Ad Team to review and if there are any changes to let Human Resources know as soon as possible.

Selling Library logo items to customers (like the bags)?
On behalf of Kim Terry, Denyvetta asked the managers for their thoughts on selling library logo items to customers. The managers shared many ideas and some storage concerns but are interested in keeping the topic open for discussion. Denyvetta will share the information received with Kim.

Other topics

Mary, DN, inquired about the time limit needed to meet the annually requirement for the Bloodborne Pathogen training and indicated she completed an in-house survey regarding the possibility of acquiring bio-hazard waste receptacles in the library. Kay advised that the Safety Committee discussed this previously and that she recalled that the receptacles are not needed at this time and informed that the Boodborne Pathogen training must be completed within the third quarter.

Manager of Library Operations Meeting Minutes for December 2007

Denyvetta asked the managers to share 2007 success highlights from their libraries. A variety of success’ were shared by the managers such as, the RFID tagging project, manager rotation, passing of the library bond, new staff members, staff improvement and team morale.

BE staff took part in the V2R “Vision to Reality” program presented by the Leadership MLS Class I of 2007. DN applied for a $2,000 grant for the Oklahoma Folklore. CT received a $3,500 grant from the Choctaw Library Guild. WA parking lot was resurfaced. MC librarian, Kristen Williamson graduated from MLS Leadership Group.

Denyvetta’s success for 2007 was the implementation of the new labels for system reserves among a variety of other accomplishments.

Karen discussed the pilot project at DC to interfile reference materials with circulating materials. Melissa and MSL are in the process of getting ideas for labels.

A progress report can be expected in January 2008.

Kay advised, this change will likely occur at the new locations but, will not necessarily take place at all libraries.

Computer onscreen nudity – Mary Patton, DN

Mary briefly spoke of the clarifications on nudity and strongly feels a clear cut definition and some directions are needed regarding this topic.

Kay shared some of the categories blocked by the adult and student filters. She invited managers to review category definitions by visiting www.securecomputing.com

Training & Development –
“How to be the Person Successful Companies Fight to Keep” by Connie Podesta Denyvetta shared a DVD by Connie Podesta entitled How to be the Person Successful Companies Fight to Keep. She informed managers that the contents of the DVD had been revised, reduced and manageable to observe within one hour.

After observing the DVD, Denyvetta invited managers to share their thoughts of the video and advised that it is available in PLA Resource Library.
