Ringing in a Green Year - Horticulture Hobbyist

The season for reflection and planning our gardens for the year ahead is upon us. While the colder months often have me longing for the divine warmth of spring and summer, there is much beauty to be found in the stillness, depth, and surprising colors of winter. Whether admiring the crimson berries on my Yaupon Holly, watching brilliantly colored feathered friends feasting in my backyard, or yielding to the still of the dark night that soon greets me after work, I make it a priority to relish in the gifts of winter that Mother Nature so lovingly provides. Metro libraries have everything I need to plan this winter.

Lessons from Mom - The Horticulture Hobbyist

With the fall season upon us we can look forward to the display of brilliant colors the trees offer us and that bit of crispness in the air that awakens our senses. It’s also the perfect time to thank Mother Nature for her generous spirit. So let’s be thinking about those fall gardening activities that we can be doing that will reward us with dividends later on. Now’s the time for fall planting, preparing our garden beds for winter, and best of all, making delicious pantry goods to enjoy for the cold season ahead.
