Fostering a Culture of Diversity

Course Date: On Demand

Course Duration: 32 min

Description: Fostering A Culture Of Diversity is an audio-only course. Many organizations believe in the importance of diversity. But belief can only turn into action when we overcome stereotypes, fears, and other limiting beliefs. This course is part of the Let's Talk White Guys series, a collection of podcasts featuring conversations around racism, sexism, bad behavior, and privilege as a means to expand the "straight White male" perspective on responsibility and necessary change. In this course, you'll hear from Jamie Winship, a former Washington D.C. police officer; Mike Robbins, an executive coach, author, and motivational speaker; and Tony Schwartz, founder and CEO of The Energy Project. Drawing from their experiences as White men, they discuss how to overcome your limiting beliefs to welcome diversity and build the courage to speak up for others. In this course, you'll learn what it means to foster a culture of diversity and how being self-focused stands in the way of this goal. You'll also learn how change comes through creating a movement – as well as the challenges of attracting people to a movement that isn't about them. And finally, you'll learn how fear is a limiting force when it comes to societal change. After this course, you'll be able to identify and remove barriers to foster a more diverse and inclusive community.
