The Children Reading to Dogs program helps build self-confidence, as children read to trained therapy dogs. Dogs are truly the most non-judgmental listeners, and this program can help children who are struggling with reading to find their passion through a love of animals.
As we approach the fall season, please let Heidi know if your library location is interested in hosting the Children Reading to Dogs program so that your DVS team can plan accordingly. The current locations offering Children Reading to Dogs programs are Northwest, The Village, Edmond, Del City, Belle Isle, and Bethany. Please contact Heidi at [email protected] [1] by August 1 if you have interest in hosting this program in the fall.
If you or someone you know has a trained therapy dog, please consider volunteering with Children Reading to Dogs. Let's make this fall super successful for the Children Reading to Dogs program with events at multiple locations with all the dogs you can imagine.
