National Friends of the Library Week is October 18-24

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK –If you’re a member of the Friends of the Library, then celebrate the week of October 18.

National Friends of the Library week is October 18-24th. The Metropolitan Library System recognizes and thanks our Friends for over 42 years of support.

The MLS Friends group raises money through membership, book sales through Amazon and the annual Friends of the Library Booksale, which is always the last weekend in February.  The booksale is one of the largest in the region with over 1 million items. This past February’s booksale was the most successful in Friends history.

Proceeds benefit the 19 library branches in Oklahoma County. Over $5 million has been granted back to libraries since the Friends inception. The Friends give back money by sponsoring library programs and events as well as paying for special materials that are needed at the libraries.
