Want to get involved in a professional organization?
All full time, halftime and part-time public service staff are eligible for one $50 reimbursement for participation in a professional organization. These organizations include (but are not limited to) OLA, ALA, ALSC, YALSA, MPLA and PLA.
What do you need to get reimbursement?
What will the process be for reimbursement?
After you have supervisor approval and you have given your receipt to your library manager, managers will send receipts to their regional director.
How is reimbursement determined?
The reimbursements are for the current fiscal year (July 2018 – June 2019). Please keep in mind that funds are limited and distributed on a first come, first served basis. Last year 25 reimbursement requests were turned in and fulfilled over the course of the fiscal year. This year the budget allows for 75 reimbursements. After this year, we will reevaluate to determine if the budget should change next year.
An Outside Commitment Form [1] may be required. Talk to your manager to determine if this pertains to you. If your involvement will require you to take time away from work, you may be required to fill this out. This typically applies to individuals who hold an office within the organization or who plan to present at a conference.
This process was evaluated and recommended by the "Membership Reimbursement Workgroup", which included the below participants.
