Final Summer Reading Stats

Submitted by jessica.gonzalez on Thu, 08/16/2018 - 15:44

The last of our Summer Reading prizes have been picked up, materials have been routed back to EPS, and our Read It Forward recipients will soon be receiving their donations. As the back end of Summer Reading 2018 continues to wrap up, EPS would like to share our final Summer Reading statistics.

This was the most successful year for our Summer Reading program to date! 28,059 readers signed up for Summer Reading 2018 (that's a 24% increase in signups from last year!) and logged a grand total of 20,211,071 minutes!

Make sure to visit our Statistics [1] page to see final stats for the following:

  • Total SR signups for 2018
  • Total minutes read for 2017 and 2018
  • Signups by library location, to date, for 2017 and 2018
  • Readers meeting their 10, 20, and 30 hour goals
  • System-wide SR signups by week
  • System-wide program participation

Also, make sure to check out our Summer Reading Outcomes [2] page to see how we did on meeting the following system-wide benchmarks/indicators for success:

  • 3.3% of community members participate in Summer Reading
    • 25,850 participants
  • 35% of participants read on average 20 minutes a day in June and July
  • 40% of teen and adult participants receive 8 badges
  • 18% of participants complete Read It Forward

While we didn’t hit all of our benchmarks this year, that’s ok! We still did an amazing job and now know how to better identify benchmarks that will help us gauge success for our 2019 Summer Reading program.

Thank you again to everyone for making this an amazing summer!
