Odilo is LIVE

Submitted by sadie.bruce on Mon, 04/30/2018 - 09:30

Odilo [1], Metro’s newest Spanish language ebook/eaudio platform, is live and ready for customer use. If you haven’t given Odilo a try, check out the catalog [1] or download the app for iOS/Android/Kindle Fire. All you need is your library card number and last name!

Talking Points:

  • We currently have over 1400 Spanish language eBooks available and over 100 eAudiobooks. There are some translations of popular English materials, as well as a lot of native content from Spain or Latin America.
  • No login information is needed, other than library card number and last name.
  • Odilo is simultaneous checkout (like Hoopla), meaning no holds.
  • There are currently no checkout limits.
  •  Checkouts are for three weeks.
  • The website can be viewed in either Spanish or English. On the app, if the primary language on the phone is Spanish, the app will be in Spanish. Help is also available in English and Spanish.
  • When you click on an eBook record, you can add a comment or add the item to a list or share on social media. Lists can be public or private.
  • When you're reading a book, you can add bookmarks, notes, or highlights. You can also see statistics about your reading time, share on social media, or change readability settings (font size, background color, etc.). You can sync your progress between devices.
  • On your account, you can also view your reading history and you can save or print a search.

About the collection:

While we do have a cap on the amount of books we can have in the collection at one time, the titles themselves can be swapped out. This means the collection is both highly proactive and reactive. If you have a program you believe would be supported by Spanish language books, we can add specific topics to the collection. As the collection gets read and you receive community feedback, we’re able to take the feedback and tweak the collection accordingly.

Try browsing the catalog and downloading the app. CIS is here to help if you have any trouble.

Promotion:

If you’re looking to promote Odilo [1] in your library, printable resources in English and Spanish are attached. If you’re looking for some quick tutorials or user guides, you can access those here [2].

Shout outs:

Thank you to the people who contacted CD about the need for native Spanish-language ebooks, attended webinars, or shared information about Odilo [1]. I hope this platform provides your customers with the content they've been wanting!

Many, many thanks to the staff at Capitol Hill and Almonte for provding early feedback on the collection. With their input, the collection is launcing from a better place than it started.
