According to the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), more than 700,000 Oklahomans could benefit from treatment for mental illness or substance abuse disorders. Yet the state ranks 46th in the nation for state-sponsored behavioral health services. ODL wants to prepare libraries in Oklahoma for addressing this need (from ODL's Website).

ODL is partnering with ODMHSAS to offer regional workshops titled, "Help Yourself + Help Others" to librarians that address mental health and substance abuse in the library. The OKC workshop is Mar. 28 from 10:30 AM - 3:30 PM at the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. The event is free and lunch is provided. If you are interested in attending this event, please get supervisor approval. Learn how to get registered below. 

How to Register

Before you can register, you must complete the Event Attendance Request form [1] (Chrome works best) with your supervisor’s signature this form is a request and NOT an approval.

Once you and your supervisor have signed the form, you can scan and return it to [email protected] [2] or interoffice it to the Learning and Development department. Once officially approved you will receive a notification from Learning and Development.

** Supervisor’s and managers when signing off on the form you are granting your staff member permission to attend and be away from your location for the day.
