How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?: 
Bethany has had a professionally trained music teacher present summer music classes at the library for more than ten years. They have been well attended. Research shows that listening and participating in making music develops children's ability to think, create and express themselves. Families appreciate programs designed especially for their young children and makes them feel welcome in the library.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?: 
Satisfy Curiosity: Your libraries are centers that offer access to civic, cultural and community enrichment opportunities.
Why will this program be successful?: 
Summer music classes for young children at the library have a record of excellent attendance and encourage families to participate in the summer reading program.
How will success be measured/determined?: 
Average attendance of 15 to 25 children and their families for over the four week series. Families will return for recurring sessions. Families will use additional resources of the library while here for music classes and check out library materials to take with them to use at home.
