Program Justification
Is a program the best way to meet the expressed need or present information?:
Yes
Does the program fit the goals of the MLS?:
Yes
How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?:
Free Comic Book Day has been a nationally recognized celebration since 2002. Members expect their library to recognize and celebrate this event in some way. We have in years past, until recently when it became too expensive to do a system-wide program. A local celebration, will bring in new members (market penetration) and remind current members that we're here to serve them (member retention) by putting library members first in celebrating such a popular event. It will encourage learning for enjoyment and freedom to learn as we promote our materials and members see what wonderful comic books, comic book movies, and comic book related e-media we have available to them in our collection.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?:
Satisfy Curiosity: Your libraries are centers that offer access to civic, cultural and community enrichment opportunities.
Why will this program be successful?:
Members will see how we've expanded our comic book related materials, that we cater to their interests and are here for them. They'll see the library as a center for entertainment and community engagement.
How will success be measured/determined?:
Attendance will be measured by a door prize drawing.
