Blurb

Would you like to use a description from the Blurb Bank?:
No, I'll create my own blurb.
Program Description:
Matt Pless -- national renowned lyricist from the DIY Punk scene -- is visiting Oklahoma and has decided to stop into the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library! Matt's music has echoed the activism and angst that championed the rise of the astoundingly empathetic "millennial" generation. From his presence on the original #Occupy album to his polished Lavender, Matt continually pushes the bounds of what it means to be a conscious singer-songwriter in today's music market.

Program Justification
Is a program the best way to meet the expressed need or present information?:
Yes
Does the program fit the goals of the MLS?:
Yes
How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?:
By appealing to a population that has traditionally been overlooked by MLS, we are increasing our market penetration.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?:
Satisfy Curiosity: Your libraries are centers that offer access to civic, cultural and community enrichment opportunities.
Why will this program be successful?:
Matt has a great following in Oklahoma. I once attended a concert of his in a barn in Guthrie that had over 200 in attendance.
How will success be measured/determined?:
Attendance. Outputs after the show. Library card sign-ups. Matt is also willing to let us film a "compact session," so this will have continual online value as his presence on social media is significant.

Submit for sharing on Library System's Social Media sites
Up-sell the event with customers (verbally or with printed Marketing pieces)
Visit a community organization to promote
What library resources and services will you connect to this program?:

Digital Library - Matt's videos will increase traffic from an audience that we have not traditionally had.

No

Supplies

No supplies are needed for this particular program.
Final Comments:
This is a steal of a deal. Matt will inevitably use strong language (it is in his lyrics) but it is insightful, not crude. LaVetta Dent recently had this type of content approved by Kay. Flyers need to have an indication of strong language and there will need to be warnings posted outside the door.
Are you ready for your supervisor to evaluate this program?:
No
Move Forward?:
Yes, I'm ready to move on.
