Type of Pilot Project:
Public Service
Additional Contributors:

Describe Project and Impact:
Augmented reality app featuring buildings and historical landmarks in Oklahoma City leveraging photos from the Oklahoma Collection.
Project Description and Expected Outcomes:
Create a mobile app using augmented reality to overlay historical photos on top of a real-time view through your phone’s camera. Due to the popularity of Pokémon Go, augmented reality has made its way into the mainstream. Want to see what the Downtown Library looked in the past? Use the OKC Go app to show a photo of the old YMCA in the 1940s and at the street corner an image of Edward Capehart O’Kelley (The guy who shot the guy who shot Jesse James) who used to frequent the area after his release from prison in Colorado. This overlay will also display additional information about the historical mark and include references to check out additional materials.
Why should we select this project?:
OKC Go allows members to discover history within the palm of their hand without any need to do additional searches and will enhance the way members interact with our Oklahoma Collection and see our city.
Constraints, Limitations, or Dependencies:
Ensuring the app works on multiple platforms.
