Program Description:
Christiane Brandt Faris will discuss her new book, "The Nicest Nazi": Childhood Memories of World War II. "You are the nicest Nazi I have ever met" was meant as a compliment for the author, but she regarded it as offensive and ignorant. Such comments motivated her to reflect upon her childhood during World War II and the chaotic post-war period in this memoir. Christiane Faris came to the United States in 1968. She holds advanced degrees in German and English Literature and Linguistics from Gottingen University and is a recipient of the German Cross of Merit. She is an emeritus professor of German and former chair of the Modern Languages Department at Oklahoma City University. Books will be available for signing and purchase.
