Calendar Review:

While reviewing the 2013 November and December meeting calendars the Ad Team agreed they no longer want to review calendars at the monthly Ad Team Meetings. Therefore this portion will not be included in future Ad Team Minutes.

Reports

Development – Out of the Office

Human Resources - No New Report

MAC -Kim reported the Marketing Department has finalized the new eMedia commercial, as previously reported. They added a new opening line with the words MP3 Music, Freegal, Overdrive, and Zinio. Kim stated the updated commercial is more categorized. Kim pulled ad schedules from Cox Cable, CW and FOX. Starting next Monday, November 18th, the new eMedia commercial will run primetime on the Food Network Channel, FX, E!, HgTV, TBS, TNT and COX for 4 weeks straight from 6pm to midnight. Kim also announced that the eMedia ad will run on two digital billboards – one near Southwest Shields and the other near Pinkizel Cupcakes & Candy shop on Gaylord Blvd. Downtown Oklahoma City

Kim also informed the Ad Team, if they need Christmas cards to go ahead and make their order to the Marketing Department.

Library Operations & Planning - For today’s SPinute, Kay discussed more on ‘Tailored Titles’ - a digital reader’s advisory. Kay also read a few customer comments written on the MLS Facebook page “Tailored Titles” section which help customers understand what MLS can do for them. Kay stated the backbone of what we do is to properly train our staff and to make sure they are willing to assist customers at all times. Kay stated when you need information to resolve an issue or answer a question you have the support and skills to search, locate, evaluate and effectively use information to meet your needs.

Kay announced the MLS Facebook page has exceeded 5,000 likes. Planning worked with Emily Williams in Outreach to make a fun video to thank the fans for helping reach the milestone.  They will also have a Kindle giveaway for Facebook fans. The last day to sign up for the Kindle giveaway is Sunday, November 17th.

Library Operations - Denyvetta reported the October managers' meeting began at the River Boat Cruise and ended at the Bourbon Street Café. Despite the weather, it was a success and everyone enjoyed themselves. The main topic was change and team building. The managers will meet again on November 13th at the Village Library. They will review the ALA Code of Ethics, the new ILS vendor, their concerns of the Affordable Care Act, and usual business. The next managers’ meeting is Wednesday, December 11th at the Downtown Library.

Library Operations (Headquarters) – Candace reported the 1st Edition Café located at the Downtown Library will close their doors the end of this year. Therefore, Candace is seeking a business to take over the area once they are closed completely. Candace, Lloyd Lovely and John Rahhal have all been in contact with the owner of Red Cup Café, due to his interest in the space and plan to visit soon. Red Cup is a local vegetarian café / coffee shop which were founded in 1995 by Kurt Orth.

Candace announced Open House is Sunday, December 8th. Sugar Free All-Stars are the selected performers for this event.

Downtown Library decorations are scheduled to be up the week of November 18th. Pete Roberson - DN Maintenance Technician is currently checking Christmas lights and fluffing the trees and other decorations.

Candace continues to encourage everyone to participate in the “Your favorite Christmas Song / Carol” Festival of Trees this year.

Administration / Commission - Donna passed around the Tulsa City – Council Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Annual Report for the Ad Team to review.

Donna asked fellow Ad Team members if they will like to add anything to the Director’s Report to email her the information.

Finance & Support – Lloyd reported Curtiss Ray – the new Manager of Facilities Maintenance began work Monday, November 4th and he is knowledgeable and enjoying his work.
•    Donna asked Lloyd to send an email to all staff members informing them on phone line changes, new Maintenance Operations and how to process work orders to the Maintenance Department when there are minor issues.

Information Technology – Anne reported the ILS vendor has been selected and notified. They will be introduced at the next Commission Meeting scheduled November 21st. Anne is still working on questions for the vendor. Anne has answers for most of the questions asked by staff members.
