An upcoming change to our website's event calendar

Print

We have worked with Library Market to address our website’s lag and they have developed a solution. This solution only impacts the way events are displayed and I’m sharing this with you for awareness (and exploration!) before this redesign goes live next Wed, May 31. Please visit our test site at https://mr-129-metrolibrary.pantheonsite.io/ and then visit the event calendar as you normally would. There are multiple ways to navigate to the event calendar:

On the redesigned event calendar, guests can now choose to display events for the library location(s) of their choice instead of the current method that displays all events for all branches each time a guest visits the event calendar. This loading of all system-wide events during each calendar visit is what Library Market believes is causing the lag. Note: this test site displays locations (namely, the Kiosk and the Service Center) that should not display when this update is pushed to our website.

After a guest selects to display events for their library location(s), the event calendar will load. As the guest scrolls down the page, in the Location search filter on the left side, the selected library location(s) will be highlighted. The library location(s) a guest selects will be saved after they close their browser, and they should display the next time the guest visits the event calendar. To select other library locations, guests can click the Change Selected Libraries button at the top of the page.

This test site will only be live until the afternoon of Tu, May 30. If you have questions or feedback about this new display, send them to [email protected] so we can try to help or send your input to Library Market before these changes go live next Wed, May 31.
