On May 13, 2021, the CDC issued the following updated recommendations regarding masks:

Fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distancing in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.

The CDC issues recommendations, but there are other legal standards and guidance that the library considers in making decisions related to the pandemic.  These include guidance by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as adopted by the Oklahoma Department of Labor's Public Employees Occupational Health and Safety (PEOSH) division.  To date, the EEOC and OSHA have not updated their current guidance related to wearing masks in the workplace as a safety measure.

Since reopening in May 2020, the library has maintained strict safety measures to protect our staff and customers during the pandemic.  Until the other governing bodies update their guidance or additional, compelling information becomes available supporting the removal of masks, the library will continue to require that all staff wear masks and social distance.

We continue to monitor this evolving situation closely and will update you on any changes to our safety protocols.
