eResource Update-MyHeritage, SIRS, Price It!, and Newspapers.com

‘Tis the season for eResource changes!
Recently, Creativebug and Social Explorer were added to our digital collections. Today, another new database for genealogy research went live-MyHeritage. We are also losing a few databases-SIRS Discoverer, SIRS Issues Researcher, and Price It! Antiques & Collectibles.
MyHeritage
MyHeritage is a genealogy database similar to Ancestry. It includes birth, death, and marriage records from 48 countries, the complete U.S. and U.K. census, immigration, military, and tombstone records and more than 3 billion family tree profiles. Due to the pandemic, Ancestry is being made available to our customers remotely at home through the end of June at which time Ancestry will once again go back to being only available on site at our libraries. MyHeritage will always be remotely available to our customers. It includes some international records that cannot be found in other resources, and users may find searching and printing easier in this database than in Ancestry. Check out the short tutorial video on the home page to learn more. And for a deeper dive, check out a 40-minute recorded webinar here (Edubrite link-sign in to access).
Cancellations and Discontinuations
After receiving staff feedback and due to very high cost-per-use and duplication of content, SIRS Discoverer and SIRS Issues Researcher will be cancelled. Access will end May 31st. For alternative resources, check out Explora, Britannica, Opposing Viewpoints, and/or Issues & Controversies.
Additionally, Price It! Antiques & Collectibles is being discontinued by the vendor. Collection Development is looking for alternative products or a way to subscribe to this resource directly, but in the meantime, access is scheduled to end June 20th.
Coming soon-Newspapers.com
Starting in June, we will be getting access to Newspapers.com. Stay tuned for more information and training on this database when it goes live.
