Call for Help--Summer Reading Promotion to Schools

Print

Summary

We need Engagement staff's help on two different summer reading promotional tasks. We need 5-7 TikTok style summer reading commercials for Middle and High School students. We also need 5 DIY Storytime handouts that can be combined and offered to daycares with information about signing up their students for summer reading. Both will need to be submitted by April 1st.

Summer Reading Content Sign-Up

TikTok Videos

We are looking for up to five volunteers to sign up to help create a 30-60 second video focused on one part of summer reading. (Ex. Prizes, Volunteering, ReaditForward). Please go in and sign up next to your preferred theme. Once you have decided on a video concept please come back and add that information so your fellow content creators know what else is being made. Videos need to be emailed to Kellie Delaney by April 1st. The videos will be posted to our library TikTok account throughout the month of May. We will also create a reel of the videos back to back that we will post on YouTube so that you can send it out to schools to promote the program.

DayCare Packet

We are looking for up to five volunteers to sign up to help create 1-3 pages of content to go into a larger DayCare Marketing Packet. The idea is to create mini lessons tied to our "Oceans of Possibilities" theme that daycare providers could easily use in class. In addition to the free resources we will also include an instructional sheet on how to sign up their classes for Summer Reading. This will be shared out virtually so that we can embed links to library resources and other free high quality content.

Each Content Creator should select a theme (Ex. Dolphins, Oceans, Coral Reefs) when they sign up. As you create the lesson please go back and fill in the additional columns so your other content creators don't duplicate your ideas.

Your pages should include:

  • 5-10 library books (print or e-books are great)
  • A link to related video or database (library content or free outside content)
  • Craft instructions that only require basic craft supplies

You will just be providing the content. The School Outreach Workgroup will complete the final formatting. Please have content submitted to Daniel Chesney by April 1st.
