United Way Partner Agencies: Help for All

There is still time to participate in this year’s program and make a difference to non-profit agencies serving our community.  Agencies like the Homeless Alliance, whose customers some of our libraries share; Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Boys & Girls Club, who help mentor our youth for tomorrow; Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, who help build girls with courage, confidence, and character. The program concludes Oct. 15 and we hope to have reached our goal of $17,000 by that time.

Media Release: Ralph Ellison Library Selected for NASA@ My Library STEAM Programming Initiative

The Ralph Ellison Library, part of the Metropolitan Library System, has been selected through a competitive application process to be part of NASA@ My Library, an education initiative created to increase and enhance STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) learning opportunities for library customers throughout the nation.

“The Ralph Ellison Library is one of just 60 libraries nationwide to be part of this initiative, and we’re thrilled to have been selected,” said Kristin Williamson, children’s services manager, who applied for the grant. “We look forward to introducing STEAM concepts to our younger customers and to exploring the universe together with people of all ages during our programs in 2021 and 2022.”

Help us name the new Edmond 24-hour library kiosk

As you know, we have a new 24/7 Edmond Library Kiosk which will probably be used mostly for holds pickups and returns.

Put your creativity hat on and help us come up with a name for this new awesome corner of Edmond! Need a start? Here are some quick ideas the Communications Cabinet came up with (but I think you guys can do better!):

  • Book Nook?
  • Metro Express?
  • Nacho Libro (seriously?? lol!)
  • Shelfie Station

Help us name this little guy. We're taking names until October 17.
