Annual Reference Survery

It’s time for this year’s ODL Reference Transactions Survey. The survey will run from Sunday, August 23 through Saturday, August 29, 2020. Staff only need to keep track of Reference Questions (instead of Reference and Non-Reference). ODL only requires that we submit a count of Reference Questions, and previously Non-Reference Questions were tracked for internal use only.

eResource Mini Series: U.S. and World History in Context

Since we can't meet in-person right now and the Introduction to E-resources workshop has been put on pause, we've created an eResource Mini Series to help you learn more about our databases and stay up-to-date on all our digital resources. These monthly videos will take you on a virtual tour of one of our databases and give you ideas about how they can be used.

Circulation Forum

With the structure of the Access Managers and Library Managers, there are several manager levels providing information to front line staff. To address concerns directly from front line staff and encourage a culture of information sharing, Circulation Forum be brought back. The first year we will evaluate the effectiveness and need of Circulation Forum for the system. This will be done by Circ Forum participants, the planning committee, and library leadership.

Staff Development Day 2020

In light of the current world pandemic and in efforts to continue to do our part to ensure the health and safety of all MLS staff, Staff Development Day 2020 has been canceled.

Staff Development Day is not a recognized holiday by the MLS Commission, but a day the Commission granted us closure for professional development as a System. As such, October 12, 2020 will be a normal day of operation serving our customers (we will not be closed).

The Commission will be considering the revised holiday calendar for approval at the Commission Meeting on August 27, 2020.

MyHeritage Database Trial

Collection Development is seeking feedback on a new genealogy resource: MyHeritage. Below is information about this resource and login information for the trial. Human Resources Policy/Procedure Update-August 2020
