Announcing the Final Pilot Project Selections

Hello everyone!

We had a lot of great pilot project ideas submitted, which made this an incredibly difficult decision. Thank you to everyone who contributed! We appreciate your energy, forward thinking, and innovative spirits. We have identified the projects we will be moving forward with, which are listed below:

NEW: Process for obtaining granted dollars from the Friends of the Library

Continuing with their annual tradition, the Friends of the Metropolitan Library are generously granting funds for fiscal year 2017.  These funds will support scholarships, Summer Reading, programming and much more.  As part of their total funding this year, $44,500 has been set aside for libraries and departments to apply.

Coming Tomorrow: ONEcard!

ONEcard goes live September 1-- that's tomorrow!

In preparation, please review the"Coming Soon: ONEcard" post, which includes talking points and FAQs.

Defining Development

The other day we had a question from a colleague about the difference between Development and Volunteer Services (DVS) and Organizational Development for Metro Library. How can we simply explain the difference? Development and Volunteer Services is about developing financial resources beyond tax dollars in order to help our libraries grow. We also develop relationships through volunteers and the community to support our libraries.

Pilot Project Rankings

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first phases of the Pilot Projects. 173 people ranked their top 2 (attached). We are really excited about everyone’s ideas and wish we could implement them all.

Our next step is trying to scope out the top projects to determine how many we can feasibly do (possibly 5 or so). We also need to make sure that we have the capacity to complete any that are ranked at top.

Pilot Project Voting is OPEN!

Thank you for all of your pilot project submissions. We truly appreciate your innovative ideas and your energy for growing our communities in new and exciting ways. The Budget Team (assistant managers on up) reviewed all submissions and ranked their top five choices for implementation. This group also evaluated each project’s alignment with our core values and strategic goals. Lastly, they indicated whether they’d like to see our organization implement the project, and whether they believed the project would be cost-effective.
